Like the other games, Field hockey also contains penalty cards. Penalty card is displayed to hockey players who commit any offence in the field. With different colours and shapes, these penalty cards have their own unique meaning in field hockey. There are usually three penalty cards in the field hockey that are used by the referees. These are:-




Green Card:-
This card is triangular in the shape and shown to the player for the minor offence. It works as a symbol of warning. The second green card for a same player work as a yellow that means suspension for 5 minutes.

 Yellow Card:-
The Shape of the yellow card is rectangular and indicates the temporary suspension of the player during the game. The temporary suspension of the player is for 5 minutes.

  Red Card:-
A Red card is shown for the serious offence and shape of the card is circular. The player will be permanently suspended without substitution. This suspension can be for a limited period of time or for number of matches depending upon the offence.

Penalty cards are used in the field hockey game so that every player follows the rules of the game.

1. Strength:-
   The strength of the a good hockey player is very essential. The upper body strength help you to handle the collisions. The strong body prevents you from the diseases. So, If you are still thinking that “how to be a good field hockey player” then firstly you need strength.

2. Good knowledge about hockey:-
   A person who does not know the basic terms of the hockey can't be a good hockey player. All the techniques, tricks, terms, policies and much more should be very well known to the good hockey player. He must know the strategies that can help him to win the game.

   As we all now that the hockey is a team game. So, disputes between two hockey players is very common. But, a good hockey player never involves their personal disputes in professional gaming. He keeps a balance between his personal and professional life.

4.  Low Fat:-
   If you are having fat on your body, then it is less chances that you will be a good hockey player. Hockey game requires a person who has 3 “S” that is Strong, speed and strength. For an overweight person it can't be possible.
